Operating system:
The following requirements for operating system are exclusive to the software version, as appliance is well configured and fine tuned on delivery.
Appliance is attached with ApolloOS.
Software uses CentOS/RedHat development version:
(Choose the hardware server in line with that of the appliance. If an older server is used, the system may collapse due to compatibility error when the kernel is updated.)
OS Kernel Version CPU Architecture Bit Last Supported Version
CentOS Linux release 7.5.1804  3.10.0-862 X86 64 7.0.13.0
CentOS Linux release 7.5.1804  kernel-5.4.40-2009.26.el7a.x86_64 X86 64 7.0.13.0
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.4 kernel-5.4.40-2009.26.el7a.x86_64 X86 64 7.0.13.0
CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 kernel-4.14.0-115.el7a.0.1.aarch64 aarch64 64 7.0.13.0
CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 kernel-5.4.40-2009.26.el7a.aarch64 aarch64 64 7.0.13.0
Mind the following:
§  If the functionality of CDP, CDM or FC is to be supported, X86 architecture and ARM-based architecture are only applicable to operating system with kernel-5.4.40-2009.26. Before performing installation, please upgrade the kernel.
§  Considering the hardware compatibility with the kernel, it is recommended to use the same version hardware server for the appliance and the software. In the opposite case, probably the server cannot be booted up or the operating system gets damaged due to kernel upgrade.
CPU:
X86-64 processor or ARM-based.
Memory:
Scenario Minimum Memory Consumption Description
Software installation 12 GB RAM Installation will fail or software service cannot be started even it is installed if memory is less than 12 GB.
CDM jobs 32 GB RAM For CDM jobs only.
Backup and recovery jobs 32 GB RAM For backup and recovery jobs only.
CDM as well as backup and recovery jobs 64 GB RAM For both CDM and backup and recovery jobs.
Backup and recovery jobs with deduplication or remote replication enabled 128 GB RAM For backup and recovery jobs with deduplication and remote replication enabled.
Disk:
System disk and data disk are required for storage.
System disk: SSD is recommended. Use at least two 120 GB SSDs to configure RAID1.
Data disk: Make sure that 2 to 36 hard disks on the data disk are available.
System disk should at least include the partitions below:
Partition Name Minimum Partition Size Description
/backupsoft 40 GB Stores server software package and can be renamed.
/var/lib 20 GB Stores file data like machine codes.
/var/log 40 GB Stores log files.
Network:
For server software of AnyBackup Family, three network communication planes are required: service plane (for example, iSCSI), storage plane, and management plane. Isolated VLANs or independent physical NICs are recommended for them. Mind that if compatibility problems occur, you need to resolve them on your own, because the software uses independent NIC and HBA card.
For GE network, a minimum of two Gigabit Ethernet ports are required. At least one port is for the storage plane.
For 10GE network, a minimum of two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports are required. At least one port is for the storage plane.
For 25GE network, a minimum of two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports are required. At least one port is for the storage plane.
NIC and network type: 1GE (TCP/IP Protocol), 10GE (TCP/IP Protocol), 25GE (TCP/IP Protocol), 8G (FC Protocol) and 16G (FC Protocol).
